On Saturday 3 October 2026, Rye hosted the 73rd National Town Criers’ Championship, the fourth year in a row the historic Cinque Port town has staged the event after it moved from Hastings. Criers in full regalia processed from the Town Hall to the Gun Gardens behind the Ryebellion Drummers, competing on volume, clarity, diction and inflection, with Charlotte Howards of Devizes named National Champion.
